Toughsheet Building Products, in association with Valpak Limited, recently sponsored an unprecedented clean-up on Henderson Island in the South Pacific. The uninhabited island is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is located more than 3,000 miles from the nearest major landmass; meaning it can lay claim to being one of the most remote places on the planet. Despite its isolation, waste from every corner of the globe is washed up on the island’s beaches – partly due to a quirk in the ocean currents which has deposited around 38 million pieces of plastic litter on the tiny landmass. As a result, Henderson Island has attracted the unwanted title of having the highest density of plastic rubbish anywhere in the world.
